The Narcissus ‘Mallee’ bulb provides your garden with a unique bloom. These soft pastel colors announce that spring is in full bloom! If you have been looking for a "pink" daffodil to soften the bright yellows in your beds, this is a lovely one to try.
Blooms: Open blooms with white petals surround frilly centers that vary from apricot on the edge to light pink and yellow deep in the center. These large bulbs produce massive blooms at 3-4" across! Look for flowers in mid-spring. Like other "pink" daffodils, the color is often richest when the blooms get a little afternoon shade. They make beautiful cut flowers.
Planting: Plant the bulb like most daffodils in 6+ hours of winter sun, well-drained soil, avoid standing water, and avoid too much competition. Plant the bulbs about 2-3 times the height of the bulb deep (so if the bulb is 1 inch tall, plant it 2-3 inches deep). If you are farther north and get very cold during the winter, you may want to plant it about 4-6 inches deep. Space the holes about 3-6 inches apart, and for a more natural looking display, consider planting 2-3 bulbs in each hole.
Landscaping Tip: Narcissus bloom at different times so as one daffodil is ending its bloom time another is just beginning. Pair 'Mallee' with white or pale yellow daffodils for a soft, pastel spring planting.
Animals: Like all daffodils, 'Mallee' is not bothered by deer, rabbits, or squirrels.
