Quick to multiply with beautiful trumpet pink blooms in the middle of summer! Crinum JC Harvey is a delight as it is strong enough to survive the worst conditions of the South, as well as offer beautiful cut flowers to take inside. Here at the cabin, Crinums are a delight every summer. The heat can make us all believe that nothing could grow and much less bloom, but the cut flowers remind us and the visitors that there is joy to be had with blooms every season! Bees and Butterflies adore the J.C. Harvey crinum.

Although some bulbs may need a season under their belt to bloom, do the following to increase a first season bloom: plant the bulb as soon as possible, water the bulb moderately every day with good drainage for the first week (then water every 2-3 days if no significant rainfall), fertilize moderately once a week the first two weeks in the ground with a low nitrogen fertilizer.

Size Approximate Bulb Size Bloom & Growth Notes
Small Small bulb All sizes will produce the same beautiful blooms — smaller bulbs simply take a bit longer to reach full size
Regular Baseball size or larger Will reach full size and begin multiplying sooner than small bulbs
Jumbo Softball size or larger The most mature bulb available — quickest to reach full size and multiply. These are serious bulbs — you could hurt someone with these!

Be sure to look at the photos and see how the crinums multiply. The picture is of an established J.C. Harvey that we dug. Be sure to plant crinums in a location where they won't have to be moved for several years.
