The Narcissus ‘British Gamble’ bulb provides your garden with a unique bloom. The star-shaped white petals surround a white frilly trumpet center that is edged with apricot color. These large bulbs produce massive blooms at 4-5 inches across! If you want a daffodil that people will stop and ask you about, this is the one.

Blooms: Big white petals frame a wide, frilly, flared trumpet that opens a soft apricot-pink and matures toward cream with a pinker edge. Warmer spring days tend to bring out more pink and salmon, while cool weather brings out more apricot. The flowers stand on strong stems about 16-18 inches tall in mid-spring and are excellent for cutting.

Planting: Plant the bulb like most daffodils in 6+ hours of winter sun, well-drained soil, avoid standing water, and avoid too much competition. Plant the bulbs about 2-3 times the height of the bulb deep (so if the bulb is 1 inch tall, plant it 2-3 inches deep). If you are farther north and get very cold during the winter, you may want to plant it about 4-6 inches deep. Space the holes about 3-6 inches apart, and for a more natural looking display, consider planting 2-3 bulbs in each hole.

Landscaping Tip: Like other pink-cupped daffodils, 'British Gamble' holds its color best with a little afternoon shade or filtered light, which keeps the pink from bleaching in strong sun. Plant it near a path or porch where you can enjoy those giant blooms up close.

Animals: Like other daffodil bulbs, critters, including deer and gophers, generally leave this bulb alone.
