This bulb holds up to its stately title! This double white daffodil is a treasure of a bulb. This bulb has been around since the 1940s though other sources say 1966!

Blooms: Multiple layers of creamy white petals with yellow/orange centers affirm that the 'Sir Winston Churchill' is as attractive up close as at a distance. Each bulb produces multiple stalks and each stalk is topped with multiple ruffled blooms, often around four per stem. It is a later-season daffodil, blooming in mid to late spring on stems about 14-16" tall, and it is hardy in zones 3-9. This flower makes a statement in your garden or in a vase in your home.
Planting: Plant the bulb like most daffodils in 6+ hours of winter sun, well-drained soil, avoid standing water, and avoid too much competition. Plant the bulbs about 2-3 times the height of the bulb deep (so if the bulb is 1 inch tall, plant it 2-3 inches deep). If you are farther north and get very cold during the winter, you may want to plant it about 4-6 inches deep. Space the holes about 3-6 inches apart, and for a more natural looking display, consider planting 2-3 bulbs in each hole.
Landscaping Tip: Narcissus bloom at different times so as one daffodil is ending its bloom time another is just beginning. We like to say that "there is a bulb that blooms every week of the year in warmer climates." Because 'Sir Winston Churchill' blooms later than many daffodils, it is a great way to stretch your spring color.
Fragrance: This daffodil has a sweet citrus fragrance that you will notice in the garden and even more in a vase on your table. The scent also draws bees and butterflies.
