This lovely Narcissus is a miniature that will only grow to 6-8" tall. This dependable bulb (since 1949) is hardy and will quickly fill an area with more fragrant blooms. It is one of the most popular little daffodils for good reason: it blooms early, lasts for weeks, and comes back reliably.
Blooms: 'Tete-a-Tete' is an early to mid-spring bloomer. Each bulb produces multiple stems, and each stem produces 1-3 blooms that nod slightly. The petals are a buttery yellow with more of an orange-yellow cup. It is hardy in zones 3-8.
Planting: Plant the bulb like most daffodils in 6+ hours of winter sun, well-drained soil, avoid standing water, and avoid too much competition. Plant the bulbs about 2-3 times the height of the bulb deep (so if the bulb is 1 inch tall, plant it 2-3 inches deep). If you are farther north and get very cold during the winter, you may want to plant it about 4-6 inches deep. Space the holes about 3-6 inches apart, and for a more natural looking display, consider planting 2-3 bulbs in each hole.
Landscaping Tip: Its small size makes it perfect for borders, pots, even rock gardens. It makes a glorious stand around the outer edge of a deciduous tree since it blooms before the tree produces its leaves.
Pots: 'Tete-a-Tete' is a wonderful daffodil for containers. Plant the bulbs close together in a pot with good drainage for a cheerful spring display by the front door.
